International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global celebration of women’s achievements from the past and present. Every year artists create posters to share the accomplishments of women with their communities and the world.
To give local children a chance to be part of this worldwide experience, Girls Club Strong and the California Museum of Art Thousand Oaks (CMATO) will host a poster contest inspired by this year’s theme of gender balance for all. The contest is a fun and engaging way for children to express their creativity and their ideas while celebrating the social, economic and cultural achievements of women.
Materials, including poster boards, will be provided.
Contest winners will be divided into three age groups.
The winning posters will be displayed in the museum’s main window and each artist will receive a $25 Visa gift card.
